Beverly Denver is a professional journalist with more than 30 years of experience in the print media. Her experience is unique, having worked in all facets of the newspaper industry. She has spent much time in the newsroom - as a reporter and editor - and also in the boardroom, having held positions as a marketing director, an advertising sales manager and a publisher. Her experience includes positions with both small local papers and several big city dailies. In the mid 1980s, the entrepreneurial bug bit, and Denver launched a community newspaper in the North Harris and South Montgomery County areas. While still owning and operating the North Houston Journal, Denver started a similar publication in West University Place, an affluent area near downtown Houston. In March 2004, Denver launched Houston Woman Magazine to inform, inspire and connect successful women.
Denver has also served as a print media consultant, working with individuals, small businesses and other newspapers, specializing in marketing and business development. Denver is the recipient of numerous professional and community-service awards, among them the Print Journalist of the Year Award for 2000 by the Press Club of Houston and a Woman on the Move for 2010 by Texas Executive Women. She was recognized as one of the Top 25 Women in Houston in 2012 by The Steed Society and Comerica Bank. In 2013, she received the Texas Media Award from the Texas Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Legacy Lioness Award at the annual ROAR® Global Conference for Women and the Community Leadership Award from North American University. Also in 2013, she was named one of the Top 50 Mentors in Houston by the City of Houston and Inspire Women.
Denver is a senior fellow of the American Leadership forum and a current board member of the American Lung Association - Houston chapter.
Houston Woman Magazine is a bi-monthly print and online publication. Since March 2004, Houston Woman Magazine has dedicated its efforts to informing, inspiring and connecting successful women.
Houston Woman Magazine spotlights women making a difference in the greater Houston community and provides a vehicle for the exchange of ideas and opinions. It serves as a soapbox for the voices of those wishing to discuss the interesting and important issues of the day.
